Our Philosophy
At IDEASTOX we’re obsessed with systems of power, whether they be business systems, political ones, media systems or otherwise. Our philosophic goal with IDEASTOX is to simply broaden the group of people who have access to established systems and deepen their participation in them.
With IDEASTOX, we’re attempting to open up systems of innovation. We want anyone with an idea to have a real chance at making their idea happen by providing them with an audience who can help to develop their idea, value it and potentially fund it.
We’re not doing this to be rebellious; we’re doing this because we believe that ideas should come from the people who will consume them.
What to know how we came up with this idea?
Way back in undergraduate political science, we learned about something called “Participatory Democracy”, a theory of governance which taught us that the state of a democracy was measured by the participation of its constituents. With participation, the theory contends, the democracy would be representative and effective at producing solutions to its problems. We took from this the following: the greater your participation in decision making, the better the outcome.
As you may have experienced, often in the business of a marketplace, democracies don’t operate at this idyllic level.
This led us to a clear objective: provide a simple and free place to nurture ideas, helping them to emerge as new enterprises, borne from the imagination, skill and preferences of all of us, the ultimate decision makers.
