Ever since I was a little girl, I loved playing dress up and I am 27 years old and still do! I made a career out of what I love; FASHION. I received a BS in Fashion Merchandising and have been working in the fashion industry for almost 10 years.
I love ideas and I want us to decide which ideas make it. It's that simple. If you have an idea, publish it...this community will give you honest feedback and if your idea is a good one, as judged by the community, we'll do everything we collectively can to connect you to people who can help make it happen. If we all support ideas from one another, we'll end up with more ideas from people and fewer ideas from boardrooms, where agendas are, well, clouded by other factors. We're going to be the one they sell to anyway right? So let's make our voices heard and tell the world what we want. The more we all participate, the stronger our influence, the more accurate the STOX VALUE, the more representative the greater good is in our reality.
An online travel magazine with a humanitarian lilt
(Publishing)
The magazine would target younger audiences, ages 18-30. I would like to capitalize, for lack of a better word, on the burgeoning voluntourism industry.
I envision the magazine’s pieces as being hybrids of traditional travel articles and news articles. Reporters would travel to both popular and lesser known destinations in the U.S. and abroad, then write not only about activities, sites and eateries a visitor would enjoy, but also about the social, economic, political and environmental issues that have an impact on the daily lives of the local population.
It being an online magazine, I also plan for a blogging section, where readers can provide additional commentary about an article or write about entirely different destinations.
Potential sponsors could come from the travel or tech industries, online publishing or the non-profit sector, such as universities.
I am a female in my mid-20s. In the fall of 2008, I will begin grad school, where I will be studying the affects of economic development on security in African nations. I have a B.S. in Communication. Until recently, I was living in Washington, DC, where I worked in the government and non-profit sectors.
My first passion is travel. I’m no one if I’m not planning a trip. And I guess, like everyone else, I’d like to parlay that passion into some sort of career.
