I thoght of this idea when a teacher told me the benefits of the plastic which the cars are made of. This soft material really helps when you're in an accident, because the plastic softens the blow, as opposed to the metal that cars were used to be made of. So I though what else could help in an accident. What if each car was lined with a thin, almost unseeable, magnet strip, which is electrically activated with the push of a button. The magnet on each car would have a positive charge so when two or more cars are milliseconds from collision the magnets would react to each other and soften the blow. Of course, I'm not talking about magnets that would hurl cars in opposite directions, but strong enough to dramatically soften the collison.
