We are all concerned about the number of plastic bottles in our landfills, right? What about the number of aluminum cans, and the energy it takes to produce and recycle all that material?
Why not replace soda and water vending machines with Environmentally Friendly Beverage Vending Machines?
Now, similar to the coffee vending machines I have seen, I put my re-usable cup in a slot, select my beverage of choice, and it runs my cup through a quick sanitizing cycle and then drops it down and fills it up!
Of course, the cup would have to fit in a pre-filled slot, so it will run through the sanitizing cycle and not overfill with my beverage. I guess you could also tell the machine you want to buy a re-usable cup, and then it just requires more money and drops down a clean cup.
Now, they already have soda fountains at convenience stores, right? And usually, I can buy a big cup that I can re-fill. But what about work? School? The park? Etc? There is almost always a vending machine, but it is filled with aluminum and plastic bottles. And it wouldn't make sense to add a soda fountain similar to the ones at convenience stores, because they wouldn't be monitored, and people could sabotage them, etc (ie. People could fiddle with the knobs, etc)
