FootMouse Touchpad (Electronics)

The FootMouse Touchpad is a new type of touch pad mouse which would be operated by foot, freeing up desk space and allowing the user to keep both hands on the keyboard, very big advantages over the traditional computer mouse, or the newer optical computer mouse. The FootMouse Touchpad will help companies prevent employee injuries pertaining to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome which would drastically lower their worker compensation rates. The FootMouse Touchpad was invented by Mr. Jeffrey Gelman with convenience in mind. The FootMouse Touchpad would be square in shape and would have dimensions of 12 inches in width and length and 1/2 inch in depth. The FootMouse Touchpad is a solid state device with no moving parts and would be more rugged and reliable than mice and trackballs. The FootMouse Touchpad would be a neural based device which is modeled on the workings of biological systems such as the human sensory system. The FootMouse Touchpad uses a highly accurate form of capacitative sensing which is capable of detecting an objects position and area of contact of the touch sensitive surface. The touch sensitive surface, the top panel of the FootMouse Touchpad, is produced from mylar. The FootMouse Touchpad would enable users to steer a cursor around a computer screen by lightly moving a foot across the touch sensitive surface. A right and left click button are positioned on the lower edge of the casing, at the center, which would be depressed to initiate commands and other actions. A scroll wheel is positioned between the click buttons which could be rolled in a forward or reverse direction to scroll the monitor display up or down. The FootMouse Touchpad would be far superior to a mouse or trackball and cursor navigation would be more accurate. The feeling would be more natural and direct and would require even less thought and effort than a mouse. Unlike a computer mouse, the FootMouse Touchpad requires no desk space to maneuver, and would be more comfortable and ergonomic than a trackball. Additionally, the FootMouse Touchpad tracks both relative and absolute position, mirroring the computer screen-the upper left hand corner of the pad corresponds to the upper left-hand corner of the screen, and so on. This allows the touch pad to serve a variety of applications that depend on this kind of direct spatial relationship as in the case of pressure-sensitive graphics tablets. The FootMouse Touchpad can also be placed on a persons lap and could be used with a finger, knuckle or a pencil eraser device. This would provide disabled persons an option to use the FootMouse Touchpad in a manner that is most adequate for them. This product can be manufactured as a USB input device and/or an Infrared device. Product Description: Conceptually speaking, the FootMouse Touchpad is a touch pad mouse with left and right click buttons and scroll wheel positioned along the lower part of the frame. The FootMouse The left and right click buttons can also be rotated to use on the top portion of the FootMouse Touchpad by rotating the product 180° and switching the buttons in the mouse setting on your computer Target Markets • General Consumer Populace • Disables Individuals • Households with Computers • Individuals with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome • Businesses • Service Industries • Individuals with Arthritis • Schools • College/University Students • International Market Distribution Channels Computer Parts & Supplies Retail • Office Supplies • Medical Supplies • Disabled Persons Supply Stores • Department Stores • Discount Stores • Computer Manufacturers • Internet Sites • Catalog Shopping • Exporters
