Wouldn't it be nice for consumers that are environmentally conscious to only patronize stores that follow certain environmental practices?
If you are interested in making this a reality, I have a great idea to make it happen!
My idea is simply this: Create an organization that would issue the seal, and develop the requirements that the store would have to meet to earn the seal (similar to the Better Business Bureau). Then, an online directory would allow the consumer to search all stores with the seal in their area. The requirements could be something like the store would have to use under a certain amount of electricity per customer, a certain amount of water per customer, and get a percentage of their electricity from a green source.
The organization would make money by either a membership fee and/or advertising on the web-site.
