Ever have a great idea but weren't quite sure what to do with it? IDEASTOX is a website where anyone can become an IDEAuthor, saving and sharing their idea with people who can help to develop it and companies/foundations or individuals who may wish to fund it. The only requirement is that the ideas come from your imagination, no specific degrees or job titles required.
The ambition of IDEASTOX is to re-define the traditional roles of consumers and producers, now that we have the technology to do so. We believe that less expensive technologies and more information have created "The New Consumer," and if you're reading this that's likely to be you. As a New Consumer, you have a greater role to play in determining what products and services get to market and how to get them there and at the same time, companies are on a parallel course, realizing the value and insight that New Consumers have to offer.
On IDEASTOX you will find many tools to help you realize your own idea or support someone else's idea. Firstly, we collect votes and site data to create an objective, apples to apples measure of each idea, what we call a STOX VALUE. Secondly, we've created unique features which help to inform this STOX VALUE, including our Voting Questions, Author Credits and Idea Partners.
Our Voting Questions are important because they give you a direct way to express your opinions. No one can ever see how anyone else votes on IDEASTOX. How you vote is your business – and you can also always change your vote based upon things that happen (news stories, new ideas, comments...). However, whether or not you have voted can be made public (publicly revealing you have voted for an idea and becoming an IDEAPatner) or be kept private (anonymous). Casting a public vote and becoming an IDEAPartner to an idea also means you gain certain privileges on the site (for example you can promote one of your own ideas on the idea page you support) and on certain ideas you can edit them yourself. We call that feature Wiki-Ideas and it was conceived by one of our members.
Author Credits is another tool which allows us to track the connective tissue of ideas - how one may lead to another and another and which ideas seem to inspire many others. We're big believers in the inter-connectedness of ideas - that they build upon one another - and since we're asking you to share them here, we've created the credits system to build that DNA of idea creation and recognition. Remember, IDEASTOX is an idea itself, and therefore very much in development. We want to hear from you about which twists and turns we should take and which we should avoid. With your input, we're aiming high with IDEASTOX, hoping to solve a problem we see - people like us generally don't know what to do with a good idea. We want you to have a chance, a shot at making your idea happen.
