Splat! is a video game which transposes kids into the everyday tasks their parents undertake. The hallmark challenge equips players (under the age of 10) with a tube of non-sting, non-toxic suntan lotion and times players to see how long it takes to cover all important skin areas on a moving target (peer/friend). Everytime they miss a target area (say and get lotion in the eyes, nose, mouth, ear) or within close range of those sensitive areas, the target throws a tantrum making it even harder to apply the lotion. All of this adds time to the player's overall score. The winner has applied the lotion thoroughly in the shortest amount of time.
Splat! also includes bonus games such as taking off band-aids, soothing anxieties on the way to vaccinations, making 3 meals a day for a week that targets won't reject, coaxing targets into self-bathing routines and washing target areas, putting targets to bed by a certain time, and so on.
I envision this game to be MMO-like, with avatars caretakers.
Club Penguin and Toontown heed these words: Splat! is coming and it's not going to be pretty.
The business model will be free basic play, with added premiums such as stuffed animals, non-stick band-aids, lotion "sticks", etc... items that generally make parenting easier, or convey the perception of making parenting easier. Advertisers will compete to place their products in these premium slots and 'real' parents will receive select 'real' products in the mail as part of marketing trials.
Get ready, get set, Splat!
