Your paper-or-plastic choices aside, I am constantly perturbed by the perfunctory double-bagging that goes on at the supermarket. This idea is directed at stores as well as consumers. To the stores: please tell your baggers to stop doubling up on paper and plastic bag for no reason. On request, fine, but stop encouraging this waste and think of your bottom line. Also, if the bags need to be stronger...improve the handles. Duh! To the consumers: a) I hope you're already bringing your cloth bags whenever possible, but b) Pay attention to what your bagger is doing. Only use double bags if you really, really need it. I guarantee that most of the time you don't. This is serious. And you have the power to make a significant difference with basically no effort. Thank you all for supporting this idea! Together we can make a change.

I am a writer and illustrator, living and working in Los Angeles. My latest project, Things that Suck, is essentially a book-long list of, you guessed it, things that suck. It includes such items as: getting dumped by text message, not remembering the last time you got some, going in without and exit strategy... What can I say? There are a lot of things that suck. But aside from complaining, I love the idea of websites like this that allow us to do something about it. Thanks for voting!
