Desktop cases are boring and are often quite a visual element to a small home. There is so much technology on the inside to regulate heat generated by the working components. And yet the cases they are made with are boring plastic or metal with a few LEDs here and there.
Couldn't we add a pigment to the plastic or paint the metal exterior that would make the desktop change color based on how hot it gets. I've already seen things like coffee mugs that change color based on the temperature of the cup. Can we apply that technology here? How much more satisfying would a desktop look if it was different shades of red or blue, brighter or darker based on if it is being used and the extent of that use?
