I've worked online full-time the past seven years, marketing both of my businesses. One of the essential tools is a keyword research tool, which can essentially tell you how often a term/product/service has been recently searched for. Basically, before deciding if anything is a good idea, it's imperative to know if others are looking for what you're offering. Last month alone, the term 'how to tie a tie' was searched on Google alone over 204,000 times. In other words, there are apparently a lot of dummies like me who work in shorts and sandals and haven't figured out the fine art of choking themselves in a stylish manner. Here's the idea, since I'm assuming a good portion of those 204,000 people came to Google for instant help. Joint venture with an upscale mens haberdashery (just wanted to use the word 'haberdashery' in a sentence) and make a series of upscale videos, showing people how to tie every knot known to man. GIVE some views away for free, to allow them to sample the quality of your work. Once you've convinced them of the quality of your work and depth and breadth of your knowledge, you charge them to view and download the entire series as their own, to view as needed. They can even burn these to their own DVD's. I've already done some surveying of this group and determined some will pay up to a certain price point. Once you have them at your site, there are a number of other natural 'tie-ins' that spin off additional streams of income. The KEY to this being either a successful venture - or a ripped off idea that flops - is to be able to drive targeted traffic to the site, which is where my expertise comes in..but not on this form:>))
