I'm a certified astrologer and writer with a book out and another one on the way. I teach and practice mainly in the SoCal area. I am an artist, poet, and activist. My website is www.timesmithing.com. I am quite interested in Global Cooling and Greening and human rights. I come from an engineering family and have Aquarian ideas all the time.
That being said, it seems that MY lawn sure does better when it has a little shade. The areas that are full sun are dead. Completely dead. I can water them all day, and they are still dead.
So, my idea is this: An Umbrella Landscape System. Similar to an irrigation system, this would just pop up shade umbrellas in areas of your lawn that need it. It could be set on a timer to only come up a few times a week, and just block the harmful mid day sun. It would probably need to have a sensor to detect wind, so that it wouldn't pop up if there is a chance it will get blown away, etc.
I don't know if this is possible. But it seems like it should be do-able. The technology would almost be identical to a sprinkler system for the timer. However, instead of popping up a water sprinkler, it would pop up a little umbrella. The umbrella would have to be super compact and durable, but they already have these for personal use.
And if the "system" concept is a little far fetched, why not an umbrella with a large stand that is marketed for this use?
