I recently visited a UPS store and was told that I could purchase a box in the store, ship it from the store, but not pack it in the store. I had to go out onto the sidewalk to form the box, tape it, and pack it. This, was to - I suppose - incentivize my purchase of packing services? UPS, this is a ridiculous policy. Since brand loyalty is such an issue, my idea is that forcing your customers out of the store doesn't help your cause. E.g. think FedEx/Kinkos; while they sell services they also provide workspace and basic materials. This doesn't mean you need to expand your stores, but it does mean that with whatever space your stores have, providing your customers with the courtesy of NOT packing up their packages on the street, would be a good idea.
