Did you know that most of the people who vote, don't know anything about poltics or who they're voting for, and issues they're voting for? This idea may sound a bit unconstitutional at first, but just think about it, there are people out there voting for the most absurd of reasons, because of a candidate's skin color, or gender, or they way he or she talks, etc, and these people have the power to cancel out your thought out, and informed vote. Does that seem fair to you? How about this, if you don't know anything about medicine, are you going to be going around telling doctors how to treat people? No. But why is it, that when it comes to politics, everyone thinks they've got it figured out when politics is just as complicated as medicine? So here's my proposal, for a person to register to vote, he or she has to take a test. The test will consist of a number of different parts, one part will consist of US history, government branches, and all the Government basics, sort of the same thing you see on a citizenship test. Another part will consist of the current issues, and how much you know about what's going on in the country and the world abroad. And the final part will consist of the candidates themselves, and how much you know about them and their stances on issues. I know what you're thinking, it sounds like a lot of work but it's not, if you watch the news once in a while and paid attention in class, you should do just fine without any studying. Also, if you're wondering, the test would be free, and it would be handled by the EAC (Election Assitance Commision.) By the way, I thought of this idea when Sean Hannity on his radio show pointed out how so many people don't know anythink about politics and the candidates, and still vote.
