We in my household assume this sequel has been in the works for some time.  However, we thought IDEASTOX would be a good place to submit our ideas for how Wicked II could work. 

This is a team effort so anyone with an idea should weigh in and edit the storyline accordingly.

Something bad is happening in Oz.  The emerald is fading.  The vitality is draining.  Greens are muted and vibrancy is dying.  No one knows why.  The wizard is long gone, Glenda is in charge and her goodness sustains the land.  But Glenda is deeply saddened from the lies of her past and it is in fact her deep solitary darkness which is creating a once-in-a-lifetime depression in The Emerald City.

Elphaba can see this.  She senses that Glenda is not well, that the Emerald City is loosing its luster.  She implores Fiero to let her return and help Glenda with a great rescue of Oz.  Fiero reminds her that too much is at stake, they now have 2 children (one green and one not) and they live a happy life in the countryside, filled with love and animals. 

This gives Elphaba an idea: the Flying Monkeys can perhaps help restore luster and shine to the once great City of Oz.
